A QUIET, COOL OASIS IN the HISTORICAL HEART OF THE CAPITAL
We love places with a past and stories to tell. The Modernist Athens settled into the former Canadian Embassy on a quiet street that overlooks a leafy residential square in Kolonaki. We, the ghostwriter , transformed the handsome corner building with its many balconies in signature Modernist style, combining casual, contemporary luxury with mid-century detailing and minimalist Danish design. It’s the perfect port of call for constant travellers who know how to live in the moment and are at home wherever they set down their bag. Flying light and often solo, expecting seamless comforts, a bit of local buzz, and highly professional yet completely unpretentious service, they’ll find nothing less than everything they need at the Modernist Athens.
find your fit
Modernist rooms come in S, M, L and XL, tailored to individual needs and cut from the same cloth with customised furniture, mood lighting and seamless comforts accessorised by such considered details as Marshall speakers, and exceptional mattresses. Our luminous spaces are fitted with curtains for filtered daylight, as well as double-glazed windows and block-out blinds for optimal sleep. Solid wood floors in ash blond provide a soft backdrop to custom joinery that combines anthracite timber, brass and black steel, and to verdant accents introduced by plants both inside and out. Ample marble sinks and walk-in showers complete the retro-modern elegance of bathrooms styled in signature Modernist black and white.
Small
not just a room
The S is all about compact comforts over 20 m2: a luminous space with solid timber floors, custom joinery and mood lighting; a king-sized or twin beds dressed in fine cotton sheets with high thread count; a walk-in shower completes a cool bathroom stocked daily with locally produced organic toiletries.
Medium
Our high standard
In addition to all the amenities of its smaller cousin, the M includes a writing desk and furnished balcony over 20-22 ㎡. Solid timber floors, elegant mood lighting and custom furniture are complemented by a supremely comfortable king-sized bed or twin dressed in fine cotton sheets with high thread count, and a bathroom with shower that is stocked daily with locally produced organic toiletries.
Large
our big
Leaving nothing to be desired in terms of its generous 24-30 m2 living space, some L rooms surpass expectations with not just one, but two balconies. The warmth of timber floors and elegant lighting are offset by sleek design in unimpeachable Scandi style, custom-crafted to suit each and every inch of this tailored space, right down to the ergonomics of the often available seating area with writing desk. King-sized or twin beds are dressed in fine cotton sheets and the bathroom with shower is stocked daily with locally produced organic toiletries.
Extra Large
our biggest
For those who like to spread out in style, this 30- 34 m2 room situated on the top floor offers a truly exceptional sense of space, flowing from an ample living area out onto a large terrace with magnificent views of Athens. Solid timber parquet, modern lighting and custom furniture lend an unmistakeable air of contemporary cool, taken to the next level with a pick-up player and collection of vinyl, as well as a drinks trolley piled with premium spirits. In addition to a royal king-sized bed, the XL can accommodate a single bed and cot on request, comfortably sleeping a third adult, or a small family with a child (up to 12 years of age) and infant. The bathroom is stocked with organic, locally produced hair & body products and the long list of perks are a nod to service that leaves nothing to be desired. But let’s step outside for a moment…to the furnished and landscaped deck with an outdoor hot tub and 180 degree views of the city that extend from the Lycabettus to the sea, with a line of sight to the Acropolis – now that’s the real XL story!
